Guide to Serbia

Travelled July.

Currency is 1 Dhs- 23 Serbian dinar but as you need to pre book the currency you can convert to Euro and grab the dinar at the airport 1 euro- 117 Serbian dinar

Let me give you pointers on what i have experienced in Serbia for those of you who decide to travel to Serbia. ( this is from my own experience and may vary with others who have already been here- no bad intentions)

Visa- visa on entry at the airport only requirement is Vaccination card . PCR testing not required if both vaccination has been completed. Vaccination card can be shown via mobile phone.

Rent a car- the driving is same as Dubai so we decided that we would rent a car to commute around without hassle. As you exit the airport there is many car rental places. We booked online but believe that booking at the airport is a better choice coat of automatic cars are higher as mostly manual cars are driven. Also when budgeting for the car rem that the price of gas is much higher than what we would expect from UAE. Here gas costs around 150-200 serbian dinar. Our car the Renault capture full tank cost about 4500 serbian dinar. Read their dos and dont and ask all the necessary questions- ( lights/ gas tank/ what type of gas).

Zlatibor- this is 4 hrs drive from the airport, but we decided to do this on our first day there. on our trip we went straight from the airport to grab some food , we went to a small pizza joint ordered a cheese pizza and burgers on the way the food was freshly prepared and the meats are very juicy and off we went to Zlatibor mountains.. the roads are nice and everyone drives very discipline sticking to the right hand side other than when over taking. There is some up hill drive but no need to fret roads are neatly organized.

We stopped on a little grocery on our way up to buy essentials like water and pasta as we decided we would cook. We also has some kebabs that were being prepared freshly close by.

We stayed at a small winter cottage, evening get colder so don’t worry as there is no air conditioner or fans. This cottage is placed well with beautiful views. Surrounded by forests its just picturesque.

Zlatibor has beautiful mountain ranges so if your passionate on driving do drive.

Belgrade- old age city which shows the ravages of war … try max to avoid cars as parking is the hardest to find.. but if your in the cuty center every place will be walkable.. there are loads of cure cafes and road side bars and restaurants to enjoy all your food cravings.. their local cuisine consists a lot of meats so non meat eaters beware. If you drink do try their local beets and Rakija which is their own brewed brandy.

Food- foods very reasonable priced and drink to your hearts content with just a few bucks. Their mainly meat eaters, so you must try every single cut. A glass of wine or beer is recommended with every meal so enjoy you time there.

People- people were intrigued to see us and were very helpful in every way.. though language was our biggest flaw there .. as they would communicate as if we understood what they were saying we still managed to use google translate to send our message across.

Overall it was a fun trip with just the girls.. to break out and do stuff on our own. cant wait to do the next one.
